RIP Selwin

The sole hireling to ever survive the party's repeated, dangerous excursions through Ultan's door. He began as an obsequious and pale linkboy, desperate to climb above his miserable lot as an apprentice fisher. And rise he did. Selwin lived through more than 20 sessions. He rose from a pasty-faced, obsequious linkboy to an imperious employer of his own linkboys. He was a second level fighter when he died, receiving a full share of experience and treasure.

His death was not entirely noble, but in part the product of tragic misfortune. The party had, at long last, penetrated the mesh sphere inclosing the Summer Palace. Proceeding down an impossibly long winding staircase leading to the palace gardens below, they were beset by strange defense lozenges, that transformed into unearthly heads. The black beams that streamed from their mouths struck Selwin, felling him. He saved against death to hold on to dear life at -2 hp. (Nor was this the first time he had so saved, for several sessions ago he made a similar saving throw against death when he was exsanguinated by a demon of Haldicar.) Although the cleric revived him, he had the incredible misfortune to be struck by a second beam fired haphazardly by a wobbly and errant damaged head. This second beam extinguished his life utterly, leaving him a grey travesty of a corpse.

Goodbye Selwin. I will miss you.

    Salinger will crack open the wine bottle and pour a full share into the soil of the gardens in honor of Selwin.

    "Depart now, dear disciple of adventure's hazard
    Swaggering Selwin, sojourn beyond the passage of slumber
    Battle brother, we give breath with with our brood and brag
    Selwin stalked and plundered Dreamland
    A full share earned, a full life sung."

    Salinger will pour a much smaller amount in remembrance of the linkboy who also died.

The Riches of Bazekop

Over the last five sessions, our party of daring dreamers plummeted in the aerie depths of the lowest level of the White Jungle on the back of a fleet of giant war crows, violent and wild, with a phalanx of storm rider paladins. Their mission was to loot the invisible tower of Bazekop, Prince of the South Wind. In all honesty, my imagination had begun to wear a bit thin and algorithms repeated themselves, over the course of these sessions. So, I’d prefer to be forward looking here. Campaign News for 5/9/2019

Two weeks pass since you returned from Bazekop's tower with your epic haul. It takes a long time for the items you brought through to be identified, appraised, and for the payouts to the party. In the meantime, the party has been scouting real estate locations, doing research, and pursuing other long term downtime goals. During this time, the party learns of several rumors and events: Since the party's trips to the dreamlands are a state secret, none know the true source of the Chatelaine's newfound wealth and splendor. Wild rumors circulate about the Storm-Riders having won a legendary haul for her. Some say they hunted and slew an ancient dragon that roosted about the shattered isles. Others say that the Storm-Riders ventured in secret through the door in the locked down section of Carver's Quarter around Ultan's Old Print Shop and bring back the riches of the dreamlands.
