Guys, no game this week.

Guys, no game this week. It's my daughter's birthday and some other things. We'll reconvene on 7/6. Excited to start in on a new dungeon. Relevant at least to Cédric Plante Anthony Huso Aleksandr Revzin Eric Boyd Chris P. Also perhaps cole long and Gus L

House Rules: Clerics and Weapon Use, and High Thief Scores

House Rules: Clerics and Weapon Use, and High Thief Scores Clerics and Weapons Use Since we never settled the question of what weapons clerics could use, with Chris P. sticking to the rules as written, and Eric Boyd deviating but sticking to lower damage weapons (handaxes). So I thought I'd settle it now with a house rule influenced by the The Nightmares Underneath, which ties variable damage to class rather than weapon type. (This is a hybrid system.) Clerics may wear any armor and use any weapons. However, owing to their inferior military training they may cause at most 1d6 with a one handed melee weapon or any missile weapon, and at most 1d8 with a two handed melee weapon. So, a dagger will still do 1d4, a mace still do 1d6, but a longsword will now do 1d6, and a two handed sword will do 1d8. Similarly, a sling will do 1d4, a shortbow 1d6, but a longbow also 1d6. High Level Thief Skills In case this wasn't already clear, a thief may raise her score in any category up to a ma

Duel at the Hanging Pagodas: Recap and the Take

Duel at the Hanging Pagodas: Recap and the Take Well, this one was a doozie. The group arrived at the pagodas of the hanging merchants in time for the scheduled duel between the two Storm Riders: Sir Tresken the Vigilant, first PC ever through Ultan’s door, and bearer of the Petal Blade, and Sir Carnes, leader of the rival adventuring party, wielder of the massive blade Inferno. When they arrived the overmerchant Malichar informed the party that a strange gift had arrived from the witch Zalvorex, a fat and torpid sparrow. All attempts at communication with the bird failed. Baffled, the party left the sparrow at their pagoda and set about gathering intelligence on the rival party. In addition to Sir Carnes, they consisted of the following four: (1) Edwin, dyspeptic apprentice to the necromancer Spaldiv. Reports indicate that he is accompanied by a pair of skeletons in antique arms. (2) Little Mara, a murderous acrobat, one of Salinger’s fellow performers at the Temple of Ulim. And (3) V

Guys I'll be posting a take and downtime thread tonight. I'd be up for playing this Thursday....depending on what you decide to do. Certain choices will require a little extra lead time to prep.

Ben L.

Ben L. Given the influence of Sir Tresken upon the campaign, I think it would be prudent that we hold a big funeral shindig for him (or maybe even two, one in the Dreaming and one in Rastindrung.) Vo and his boss as well as Malichar and Bulras would probably want one in the Dreaming, and I'm sure others on the Waking World would want one for their part too. DOWNTIME THREAD: AT THE PAGODAS OF THE HANGING MERCHANTS

DOWNTIME THREAD: AT THE PAGODAS OF THE HANGING MERCHANTS The party's journey up through the hanging jungle is largely uneventful. Hector is delighted to run free in the jungle. He is able to bound across the thinnest branches and trembling leaves as though they were solid ground (think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). When he disappears, you worry, but he seems to always return, sometimes with blood on his teeth, although never on his pristine white fur. You are glad to have him at camp with you at night, where he sleeps with one ear constantly cocked. The skeletons of the invisible slaves, on the other hand, give you eerie chills. They seem to intend you harm, and at certain points come near to shoving a party member from a branch, always by a willful carelessness. They yearn to walk free into the jungle, and you quickly learn that they must be shackled at night while the party sleeps. You return to the hanging merchants and take up residence once again on a platform under the new

Session 40 Recap and the Take

Session 40 Recap and the Take The last session saw the party discoursing with Lathanon's immortal hound Hector through an blessing provided by MANA YOOD-SUSHAI, the Slumbering God. They followed Hector to the Chapel, entering through the double doors on the first floor. The dog made a break for it, but Pasquale was able to tackle and recapture it. Hector informed them that Lathanon's shade would not rest until Zyan was restored to her former glory. He indicated that this would likely have to involve freeing Umpalior, the unfortunate present King of Zyan depicted on the top panel of the Chapel's stained glass. He informed the party that the glass shows that Umpalior is held in the Abyssal Dungeon, a fiendishly constructed prison intended to hold the Anti-Metaphysical Crown of the Hidden King. He said that he knew well where it was, having travelled with Lathanon there on occasion. (It is located in the nighted tunnels of the brambles on level 1.) He agreed lead the party the

I wanted to test the waters to see whether we should schedule our next session for this Thursday evening (6/8) or whether we should aim for next week (6/15) (or perhaps some other day). The reason I'm not just scheduling a session and seeing who shows up (as normal) is that it is important that Joshua Blackketter's character be present for the first hour or so of our next session. I know Joshua's schedule has not jibed with our game time recently, and I don't want to screw him, given that not making the session has oversized consequences for his character. So let me just ask Joshua whether it looks like he could make one of these, and if so, which one. (If not, we can consider alternate dates.)
